My name is Caedmon Wood. I am an Ohio University Class of 2026 graduate, with a Bachelor's in Music Education with an emphasis on Instrumental Music and a Minor in Conducting. My primary instrument is trumpet, and I have experience playing all brass instruments, as well as percussion and flute.
My hometown is Gahanna, Ohio, and I went to Gahanna Lincoln High School. I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by an exceptional music program in the Gahanna-Jefferson school district, and that was where I found my place and my people. As high school graduation drew near, I realized that going into music was what I felt called to do. I loved making music and I wanted to share it with others. As I grew and matured as both a person and a musician, I decided music education was the path that best fit that goal, and I began to consider my music teachers not only as role models but also examples of great music educators, people who I wanted to work to emulate.
I chose Ohio University because the faculty genuinely wanted me to come there, learn from them, and succeed. My experience at Ohio has been nothing short of amazing. I have grown so much from day one, and I have become a stronger musician, educator, and leader than I ever could have imagined thanks to my incredible peers and faculty pushing me every single day. I am very grateful for my experiences at OU and they will always be a part of who I am.
In spring 2026, my final semester as a college student, I was blessed to be assigned to Olentangy Orange High School as my student teaching internship placement. Under Mr. Josh Boyer, I was able to apply my skills in the "real world" and gained valuable experience with co-teaching systems, classroom management strategies, and rapport-building in addition to my musical and logistical skills as a director. In a short three months, I was able to grow immenseley as a teacher and I feel very prepared to take the helm of my own program.
I am enthusiastically looking forward to starting my Music Education career and I am happy to receive any feedback on my materials presented in this ePortfolio website. Feel free to contact me regarding more information about my experience, philosophies, and professional documents; and/or if you are interested in having me write drill or arrangements for your band program.
