I have been a member of Kappa Kappa Psi Music Service Fraternity since Spring 2024. We organize fundraisers, socials, and service projects that benefit music programs at Ohio University and high schools around southeast Ohio. KKY also provides leadership opportunities and professional development that builds connections and provides an avenue to give back and support music programs that mean a lot to me.
Ohio University's Collegiate NAFME chapter is a professional organization dedicated to providing enrichment and professional development to Music Education Majors. In addition to bringing in guest speakers from across the country educating on wide ranging topics, NAFME also fundraises to help pay for trips to OMEA Professional Development Conference.
Another aspect of OU C-NAFME is volunteering and observing at official OMEA events. Events I have attended include OMEA District 17 Solo & Ensemble, Athens Band Invitational, and Lancaster Band Invitational.
Pi Kappa Lambda is an honorary music society. I was nominated and accpeted into Ohio University's chapter as a junior. Outstanding students and musicians are nominated by faculty, and I was honored to have been accepted into this prestigious society.
Ohio Music Educator's Association is the main professional organization and governing body of music education in the state of Ohio. As a member, I receive professional development materials, networking opportunities, and ways to further my education and that of my students.
I have attended Ohio ITG conferences to perform, attend masterclasses and celebrity performances, and network with peers.
Student Ambassadors help organize and run recruitment events for Ohio University, and are the first students prospective students and parents interact with. Being a part of this team was significant because helping to secure the future of music education and learning good strategies for recruitment are important experiences for a music educator.
